"On a desert island, the pigeon post will bring only one publication each month. Which one would you choose and why?"

If I were to be stuck on a desert island for a long period of time I think the novelty of clear blue waters, scorching sunshine, and white sands would soon wear off and I'd be bored out of my mind.
I'd need a magazine that offers me beautiful designs and layouts, inspiration from all angles, and interesting information and news about the fashion and beauty industry, whilst at the same time being realistic and understanding that their audience are women of the general public - yes, fashion obsessed and often fantastic, but working women, and hard working at that.

That's why my choice of magazine would have to be ELLE.

ELLE has that even balance between fashion trends, accessories, articles and interviews, and culture that I think few magazines fail to achieve. With pages dedicated to literature, music, food, and travel, I think it recognises that there are women out there who are extremely passionate about fashion, but that these same woman are also well-rounded and intelligent, who have passions and interests that lie in other areas of life, that do, from time to time feed into their love of fashion.
Monthly, the ELLE team pull together stunning editorials alongside inspiring articles and interviews, accurate trend reports and analysis with an understanding that not everyone can afford to spend £1000 on a blouse, travel ideas that range from retreats to exploration, aimed directly at their target audience - women who are strong and open minded, but always with a tone that suggests opinion and point of view rather than dictation.

With an Editor-in-Chief like Lorraine Candy it's hard to see where the magazine could go wrong. Lorraine Candy encapsulates this 'ELLE woman' so perfectly; being married with three children can be no easy task, but on top of that she manages to always look fantastic and tie together the beautiful package that is ELLE each month without fail.
